We are in an unexpected time and it's precisely in this time that we need the unexpected words of Jesus. Blessing in a time of Anxiety, Grief, and Separation shows us how Jesus turned conventional thought upside down when he pronounced who would know true happiness and blessing. This eight-week series allows us to see the truth about happiness and blessing and that is found in Jesus' longest and most famous sermon, The Sermon on the Mount. We'll look at what has traditionally been called The 8 Words or the Beatitudes (which is simply a take on the Latin word for blessing or happiness). Surprisingly, Jesus says blessing is found in poverty of spirit, mourning, meekness, hunger and thirst. And the surprising blessing in these places of seeming weakness is comfort, wholeness, and access to a whole new Kingdom. We will sink into Jesus' words in a time of pandemic and find deep, true, blessing.
