Joining Jesus on His Mission
Providence Church’s mission is to make more and deeper disciples of Jesus. We do this when we spend time with Jesus, become more like Him, and do what Jesus did. One of the main things Jesus did was to serve those around him.
We encourage everyone to use their God-given talents, gifts, and passions to serve others! Our Outreach ministry offers many opportunities to join the work Jesus is already doing in our community and around the world. We engage in regular service opportunities with local schools, the Mt. Juliet Help Center, and Compassionate Hands, as well as overseas mission trips, and disaster relief. More details and information on how to get involved in our Outreach ministry are listed below. Mt Juliet Help Center
The Mt Juliet Help Center provides emergency food assistance to those in need in our city. Providence Church supports the Mt Juliet Help Center by hosting a monthly food collection on the fourth Sunday of each month. We are always looking for volunteers willing to help collect, sort, and deliver food to the Mt Juliet Help Center on collection Sundays! Compassionate Hands
Compassionate Hands provides shelter, food, transportation, laundry care, counseling, and spiritual development for those experiencing homelessness in Wilson County. Therefore, there is a great need for volunteers at the men’s and women’s shelters. For more information about Compassionate Hands, please visit their website here.
Global Missions
Providence Church currently partners with 4 global ministries - El Porvenir in Nicaragua, Bold Hope in Belize, Compassion International in Peru and Dominican Republic, and Grace & Glory Academy in Haiti. We believe engaging in global missions provides discipleship opportunities, service experiences, and relationship building that results in Jesus-like perspectives and deep compassion. We invite you to consider traveling on a mission trip with Bold Hope or El Porvenir, sponsoring a child through Compassion International or Grace & Glory Academy, or supporting our ministry partners through financial donations or prayer.
Local School Support
Providence Church serves our local schools in a variety of ways. We encourage and care for teachers, help provide basic needs and essentials for students, and volunteer as mentors, reading buddies, and classroom volunteers throughout the school year. Our ongoing partner schools are Rutland Elementary and Barry Tatum Academy, though we love and support various local schools as needs arise.
Disaster Relief
In the event of a disaster in our area, our Disaster Relief Team will receive communication with details on how our church is responding and ways to get involved in relief efforts. We partner closely with the Wilson County chapter of Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD). Our Disaster Relief Team also receives emails with information about education and training opportunities to better equip team members when volunteering and serving in disaster affected areas.
