Confirmation
Students in 7th grade and above are invited to participate in Confirmation
Confirmation is a worship service where young people are offered an opportunity to “confirm” their intention to live the vows of the baptismal covenant. It is a meaningful and memorable moment in a student’s spiritual life. In order to prepare for confirmation, students will attend confirmation classes and the confirmation retreat where they will learn the basics of Christianity and have the opportunity to apply these truths to their own lives.
Some of our students were baptized as infants, and this marks the time that they may desire to profess their faith in Christ and confirm the promises that their parents and church family made on their behalf. Other students may not have been baptized yet, and this will give them an opportunity to decide if they would like to take that step in their spiritual journey. We also have students who were baptized at another age when they decided to follow Jesus. Confirmation is a valuable experience for students who fall into all three of these categories.
Participation in Confirmation requires attending 8 out of the 10 sessions. Four of the ten sessions are at the Confirmation Retreat so please be aware that attending at least part of the retreat is a necessary part of the Confirmation experience. Students are not required to sleep at the camp, but they are required to participate in enough sessions to fulfill the required eight sessions. If you have questions or concerns about your student’s schedule, please reach out to Rachel Armstrong to discuss.
