Counseling FAQ
Do I need to be a member of Providence Church to get a counseling referral?
We make referrals for anyone in our community who is in need of mental health counseling. You do not need to be a member or a regular attender to request a counseling referral.
Who do you refer to?
We work with service providers in the Mt. Juliet, Nashville, Brentwood, and Murfreesboro areas. We only refer to therapists who are licensed or are in the pre-licensure phase and are under the supervision of a trusted licensed therapist.
What if I need counseling immediately?
We are not able to control how quickly you can get an appointment, but we do our best to get you a referral as soon as possible with someone who is accepting new clients. This service is not intended for immediate crisis needs. If you are concerned about your safety or the safety of others, please call 911 or visit the nearest emergency room.
How much does counseling cost?
The typical cost of counseling is $100 - $150 per session. Many of the professionals to whom we refer are out-of-network providers and may not accept insurance. Please direct insurance-related questions to each individual provider. Financial assistance may be available on an individual basis. We do not want finances to be a barrier for you beginning this healing journey.
Should I speak to a pastor or a therapist or both?
If you have identified a spiritual component to your challenges, we encourage you to seek pastoral guidance. Our pastors are also equipped to offer you Brief Pastoral Care. This is what we consider more acute care and is not intended for ongoing therapeutic counseling.
