Small Groups are Finding Beauty in Ashes
Technology can be a learning curve for all of us, but here we are...embracing video conferencing services like Zoom, Google Hangouts Meet, and Skype to stay connected by seeing each other's faces on our screens. What an opportunity! What a gift!
Many of our small groups are already on the video conferencing train and we know of at least two small groups that have grown even closer and chosen to step up to meeting weekly instead of every other week. These technologies have offered the opportunity for better connection and comfort in this time
"For us, it's more about checking in with each other. We're reading Psalm 91 and praying together."
511 Small Group
When we asked the True North small group why they are choosing to meet weekly, they said: "We like each other. We need each other. We love each other. The pursuit of Christ is by no means a singular endeavor, it must be done in community. Our Savior surrounded himself with 12 friends, and we MUST do the same. We are really becoming closer and more bonded like family. We are all social beings and this really helps . . . and we don’t feel so alone."
This is what community is all about!
Don't be afraid to be flexible and makes changes right now in ways that wor best for your small group. Our favorite video conferencing service is Zoom. It's easy to use and offers a great user experience. If you have any questions on how to use Zoom then please reach out to Joy Dodge, Director of Connections, or Pastor Mark.
