Outreach
Joining Jesus on His Mission
An important part of Providence Church’s mission is to “Respond by Serving”, and we encourage everyone to use their God-given talents, gifts, and passions to serve others! Our Outreach ministry offers many opportunities to join the work Jesus is already doing in our local communities and around the world. By investing in people, building lasting relationships, and offering His grace through service to those in need of hope, healing, and wholeness, we believe we will see the kingdom of Jesus “on earth as it is in heaven”.
We engage in ongoing service opportunities with local schools, foster care families, the Mt. Juliet Help Center, Compassionate Hands, global ministry partners, and disaster relief organizations. Descriptions of these organizations, as well as sign-up information on how to get involved, are listed below. We partner with many other organizations and ministries on a seasonal basis Please visit the sign up page to view current seasonal service opportunities. We look forward to serving with you!
Mt Juliet Help Center
The Mt Juliet Help Center provides emergency food assistance to those in need in our city. Providence Church supports the Mt Juliet Help Center by hosting a monthly food collection on the fourth Sunday of each month. We are always looking for volunteers willing to help collect, sort, and deliver food to the Mt Juliet Help Center on collection Sundays! For more information about the Mt Juliet Help Center, please visit their website here.
Compassionate Hands
Compassionate Hands provides shelter, food, transportation, laundry care, counseling, and spiritual development for those experiencing homelessness in Wilson County. Therefore, there is a great need for volunteers at the men’s and women’s shelters. For more information about Compassionate Hands, please visit their website here.
Global Missions
Providence Church offers several mission trip opportunities throughout the year. Mission trips allow us the opportunity to engage with other cultures and communities in hands-on work and relationship building to see those who feel disconnected from God and the church find hope, healing, and wholeness. While serving on a mission trip, you will meet new people, connect with them, empower them, love them, encourage them, and show them Jesus. Visiting new places helps widen our perspectives, deepen our compassion, and allow us to be disciples of Jesus around the world. No matter the work you are doing or the location you are serving, your mission trip experience will change you just as much as it impacts those you’re helping.
Local School Support
Providence Church serves our local schools in a variety of ways. We encourage and care for teachers, help provide basic needs and essentials for students, and volunteer as mentors, reading buddies, and classroom volunteers throughout the school year. Our ongoing partner schools are Rutland Elementary and Barry Tatum Academy, though we love and support various local schools as needs arise.
Disaster Relief
Our Disaster Relief Team will receive communication with details on how our church is responding to emergency situations and how you can be involved. We also hope to build a network of churches, nonprofits, and ministries who specialize in disaster relief who we can partner with and support. We also hope to offer education and training opportunities to better equip our team members when volunteering and serving in disaster affected areas.
Foster Care
Are you interested in becoming a foster parent or supporting a foster family during their season of fostering? We partner closely with Foster180 and would love to get those interested in becoming a foster parent connected with this wonderful ministry. We have several families in our church that serve as foster families. A Foster Family WRAP Team comes alongside these families to support them during their fostering season through writing cards of encouragement, providing acts of helpful service, and interceding for them through prayer.
